Collective solar parks can also be installed on heritage buildings. This was proven by the cooperative Kennemer Kracht, partner in the Empower 2.0 team. The Mendel College in the Pim Mulierlaan in Haarlem is a listed building. On its flat roofs, 776 solar panels are expected to provide more than 200.000 kWh of green electricity annually. Moreover the installation is owned by 113 households in the neighbourhood through the local cooperative. The college is a historically valuable building from the reconstruction after the last war. The panels are not visible, and their installation is completely reversible. In this way, the school is taking on a social role and nurturing the relationship with the neighbourhood and local residents.
